Project #2 - Germany => Neuschwanstein Castle

22th January 2009
Last weekend, I manage to take the chance to go to once of the famous castle in the world and some said, it was recorded down as the 8th Wonder of the World. Most of you might know this castle but to some, i bet they did not know this castle ever existed except in fairy tale story. Well, I can tell you one thing, this castle does exist and its still looks like a fairy tale castle to me.

The castle that i meant is the one and only, Neuschwanstein Castle, which is the main model for the very own Disneyland trademark castle. I actually never heard of it until i arrive in Germany about 2 months back and since then, i've make this trip a must in one of my weekend here. I'm not going to tell you much about the castle since you can read it online (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuschwanstein_Castle) but i'm going to tell you how i manage to go there from the place i stay.

You can actually go anywhere from Munich public transport but this time, we choose train as our main transport. From Burghausen (the place i stay), we took the train that take us around 1 hour and half and bear in mind that there is a nice package train ticket that will take you all over Bavaria for only one time payment of EURO$28. The best part is that, you can accommodate up to 5 people for this one ticket. Is that nice?.....By the time we reach Munich, we took another train from Munich to Fussen which is the last stop for this trip. Please bear in mind you don't need to pay a sen to take this train as its already covered inside the Bavaria area.

The train from Munich to Fussen will take approximately 2 hours but this does not end there, you would need to take another bus ride from Fussen to Hohenshwangau which is around 15 minutes away. Another good news is...........for this bus ride, there is not need to pay either as its being covered in the Bavaria train ticket again....... See......how nice this ticket is........so make it a must to buy if you are travelling 2 or more people.

On the way to Munich from Burghausen. This is the view outside of MY train

Another view outside of the train. This is after snowing, which i think a few days back.

Arrived......at last. This is the train we took.

The view of the Fussen's train station.

This is what you are going to be greeted once you arrive by bus. Nice eh?

Another view of the castle........simply gorgeus.

The ticket centre which you will need to buy if you want to go into the castle. Bear in mind that the caslte is still another 30 minutes walk up from this place.

The transport that we took up to the castle. It cost us EURO$6 each. There actually have another option of transport which is the bus but its not available due to slippery road at that time. Normally, you can walk also.

This is another castle you can see when you are on the way up to the fairy tale castle. This is Hohenshwangau Castle.

We are almost there. Even you take the horse cart up, you would still need to walk another 5 minutes to reach the gate.

The castle. A view from outside.

A view from inside the castle compound.

The view from inside of the castle. Bear in mind that no picture can be taken inside the compound of the castle unless you want to shoot outside the window pane.
